Our summers started with a temperature of 41 degree Celsius. Really hot. Isn’t it? To beat this heat I tied a scarf on my face. No sooner I realized I am just trying external ways to beat the heat waves. Why not keep the body cool from within? Are there any foods which can help us fight the summer heat? I remember my mom used to say “to eat certain foods during summer, at that time I didn’t know the reason but today being a dietician I know it and I want to share it with others. Through this article let’s find out which are the foods that can combat summer heat and how?
Before coming to the actual concept I would like to discuss the term “ Dehydration” as it will be used very often in this article.
What is “Dehydration”?
Dehydration happens when our body doesn’t have as much water as it needs. It occurs when the amount of water leaving the body is higher than the amount being taken. In summers chances of dehydration are high due to hot and humid weather. Further, let’s come to the point about “ THE FOODS TO COMBAT SUMMER HEAT”

I guess we are forgetting something…Maybe you caught it right. Water, We can’t even survive without water. Water is needed in adequate amounts to stay hydrated in summer.
DRINK ENOUGH WATER THIS SUMMER
No matter whatever you have but “ paani ka kaam pani hi Karta hai”Foods do help to combat the summer heat. But how can we forget the most important thing “WATER”. Drink Enough water this summer. It is the best option to quench your thirst. Listen to your body’s requirement. We need to drink at least 2-3 liters of water daily. Tea, Coffee, Buttermilk, Soups etc also are counted in your water intake. Choose your liquids wisely opt for buttermilk, aam panna, Kokum sherbet, coconut water, nimbu paani instead of high sugar cold drinks.You can flavor your water by adding a slice of lime, lemon or fresh cucumber. Carry a bottle with you always especially in summers. Drink water as soon as you feel thirsty. You can set a reminder for water intake. Track your water intake.
